Forever Smiling

This photo of a lady in the Kurungkumey district of Arunachal Pradesh was taken during an exploration mission for rice germplasm collection. I was amazed with the contribution of women in sustaining the tribal life. They participate in every crucial activities for livelihood of the family, such as farming, selling farm produce in markets, collecting firewoods from forests, and many more. The women are the heads of a the family in most parts of northeast India.
