Rice festival
In the month of Kartik, after the main day of Diwali, Govardhan Puja (Annakut Puja) and Bali Pratipada are held. Annakut is celebrated to honor Lord Krishna as he defeated God Indra in the battle. At times, it is observed that one day gap occurs between Diwali and Govardhan Puja. On this day, food is prepared with cereals such as rice, wheat and leafy vegetables. The food is offered to Lord Krishna first. After this rice is thrown towards to the gathered devotees and they collect that rice.
