Grandalas usually stay far above the altitude of 15000 ft. But the local migration happens and they come down to 14000 ft to 8000 ft altitude only when heavy snowfall starts and the upper areas are completely snow covered and almost nothing left for them to eat. In the lower areas (12000 to 8000) a berry like fruit called buckthorn become the source of food for these birds.
