Cloud Shield

This photograph was taken at Kerala on the way to Munnar region. Clouds formed when air encounters this mountain range. The clouds that form from encounters with mountains are stratus clouds. Found at very low levels, thick, large, heavy-looking grey clouds that dominate the sky. The wind blows across the mountain range, air rises and cools and clouds can form on the windward side.
