The Revered Sanyasis
During Dev Deepavali, a festival of lights and devotion, while I walked along the Darbhanga Ghat in Varanasi, India, I noticed these Sanyasis seated in a corner and oil-lamps were lit in front of them. Sanyasis are revered like God by many in India, because they renounce all physical and material pleasures and dedicate their life towards spiritual pursuits. I feel this view of the men with the illuminated lamps in front looked powerful and fascinating.
