Harish Tyagi
Photo journalist Harish Tyagi, currently a Chief photographer (Indian sub-continent) for the European Press Photo Agency (EPA) and also worked with India's leading newspapers viz The Indian Express and The Times of India. With an extensive portfolio of work spanning over a decade his contributions in the field of news, current affairs and environment have won him critical acclaim and many prestigious awards.
He is not only the double recipient of the National Media Fellowship for photojournalists from the National Foundation for India during 2000-2001 in which he studied and photographed "The impact of pollution in the Yamuna river and ways to combat it" and also in 2007-2008 for his work on "Season Distress Migration and its effects on Children"but also a recipient of the Gold Award (Nature and Environment category) at the First Indian Press Photographer's Awards in December 2000. He was also felicitated by the prestigious International media publication "Editor and Publisher" for his picture on Tsunami in the News (Spot/General) category in 2005-06 and also won the Silver award in Spot news single catergory in 2005 in China International Press Photo Contest .Also awarded 1st prize in the Art and Entertainment catergory at the Ramnath Goenka Indian Press Photo Awards in 2004 and again first prize in 2008 for Nature and environment category. Also winner of Media Foundation of India's National PRESS PHOTO Contest 2014 in daily life category
Harish held his first solo exhibition on the National Capital's Subways, titled the "Other side of darkness" at the Habitat centre, New Delhi in November 1999. His second exhibition was in 2002 at New Delhi on his remarkable work on the river Yamuna titled " Death of a River"and the third on ''Season Distress Migration and its effects on Children'' in 2008 again at Delhi..He won the Best Portfolio of 1999 Award from the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society. With a Master's in Political Science from Delhi university Harish's core interest areas include issues related to the human consequences of international and civil conflict, the environment, children and hard news.
